Did You Know? IDW Hot Facts
The IDW is NOT similar to a manufacturer’s website. Some of the differences include:
Websites: Only displays the current manufacturer product and pricing information
IDW: Displays all manufacturer product and pricing information including old and new data. It is designed to identify which items are current or expired.
Websites: Customers are not notified when data changes.
IDW: All users are notified of any changes of data including additions, deletions and updates. This is done with extensive messaging, life cycle codes with date stamp fields and identification of downloaded data.
Websites: Data content is published differently by each manufacturer.
IDW: Data requires standardized fields, field names and field order so that a trading partner’s ERP software can quickly incorporate downloaded data without human intervention. These standards are built by IDW customers.
Websites: Price Sheets are usually password protected and rarely can be downloaded as text files; most are in a PDF format.
IDW: Once trading partners become IDEA customers and they are authorized by a manufacturer, price sheets are readily available in text or EDI formats. This allows individual SKUs to be separated in Excel and Access.
