Sneak Peek at IDEA’s new Supply Chain Analytics Tool

Here’s a sneak peek of a new service from IDEA that was revealed at the Forum, and will be available for manufacturers to use soon. The Supply Chain Analytics tool is an on-demand data governance tool that manufacturers can use to monitor the quality of their product data in the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW). Manufacturers can leverage the flexibility and cost-savings to undertake data governance projects themselves. The evaluation criteria for this new tool are based on guidelines and best practices developed by the IDEA Industry Standards Committee (ISC). The tool will enable manufacturers to evaluate their data quality on multiple levels of detail and export to Excel to fix the core issues in their business systems.

The Executive Summary evaluates data quality at a high-level from the IDW application and presents blind aggregate comparisons with peers.

The Group Summary drills down to the field level to pinpoint specific data quality issues and prioritize data governance projects.

Field Errors reports all the present errors in an exportable format and provides an error list defining each type of error. The report can be exported and used to fix the core problem at the source of the business system, ensuring that further data feeds to any platforms are accurate and validated.

IDEA Names Hubbell Incorporated and Kirby Risk Electrical Supply Recipients of the Sixth Annual Richard Buzun Award

Hubbell Incorporated and Kirby Risk Electrical Supply are the manufacturer and distributor winners, respectively, of the sixth annual Richard Buzun Award for Leadership and Innovation in eBusiness. Bob Gaylord, president & CEO, IDEA, announced the winners during the IDEA E-Biz Forum 2012 in Dallas, TX.

“The 2012 winners are especially commended for their eBusiness leadership, continuing commitment to industry initiatives and incorporation of new technology to the benefit of not only themselves, but also their trading partners and the industry as a whole. Both have led by example and given back to the industry by sharing their best practices, methodology and resources,” said Gaylord.

Phil Barrios, Senior Director, eBusiness & Marketing, Hubbell Incorporated, and John Burke, President, Kirby Risk Electrical Supply, accepted the awards on behalf of the winning companies.

“Hubbell Incorporated is delighted and honored to accept the manufacturers’ 2012 Richard Buzun Award. We are grateful to our trading partners, IDEA and the industry for recognizing our long history of eBusiness leadership with this achievement. As a charter member of IDEA and avid supporter of standards development, Tim Powers, our Chairman and CEO, has guided Hubbell to make data excellence a priority,” said Barrios. “This has enabled us to leverage data sync to drive everything from catalog content for our distributors to master data for our vendor managed inventory (VMI) initiatives. We continue to support the industry through 'data as a product' and hope to share best practices from our experiences to spread the benefits across the industry,” added Barrios.

“Kirby Risk Electrical Supply is honored to be recognized with the Richard Buzun Award for eBusiness leadership. The achievement acknowledges our commitment to the industry by dedicating resources to major industry initiatives such as the NAED Strategic Technology Task Force, using vendor scorecards to improve collaboration, and using the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) to synchronize product data for nearly 98% of stock items for Tier 1 & 2 vendors,” said Burke. “Extremely high levels of data quality have enabled Kirby Risk and our manufacturer partners to achieve significant ROI in programs like vendor managed inventory (VMI), which manages 80% of our stock, and advanced product searching on our website. We are grateful for the support of our partners and for the recognition of our efforts,” he added.
